i have a graph paper note book. I draw at least one quick comic in it a day. They are not meant to be finished work, but ideas that may some time end up being finished work of some kind. Mostly its just to keep me drawing. I scribble them out quickly with a ball point pen, and sometimes crudely color them in with whatever prisma-copic-crayola type thing i have laying around. i have been told i should post something from it. as always life has me busy. but don't worry kids, i will never forget the internet is here for me to cry upon its cyber tubular shoulder.

POOPDICK SHITBITCH COMICS UNNNGGHGHHH HURRR HURR RHURRRR.

yeah. um. MOCCA. My Lady friend Emily and I are putting together a zine of girls drawing comics about things like poop and farts. This is the first page of a comic i am currently working on. You can expect this and many other classy items from your favorite poop fart pop tart, Katie rose!
also talk about MOCCA, if  any of you kids need a place to crash i have a purple futon that wants you to sleep on it.
Its pretty comfy. just sayin.
 

so now, it seems, whenever i need to warm up to draw,
i end up churning out one of these.
what can i say?
Schulz knows composition and Wu-Tang Clan aint nothing to fuck with.

I have had an extreme case of Cartoonist block lately.
so i am just forcing myself to draw fast shitty comics until something with some promise shows up.

I just got back from seeing Fischerspooner.
They make be believe in art and drum machines and Madonna.
with every new album they come out with they create an elaborate stage show to go with it.
Casey Spooner is a performance artist first and a singer in a band second.
Warren Fischer is a classically trained musician.
The two of them combine create a live show that is beyond fabulous.
The whole show was a preformance piece about creating pop music and how pop musicians have to be so many things at once.
An actor, an athlete, a dancer, a slut, innocent, and to be a puppet.
The dancers were in their troupe were like young cloned robots learning how to be pop performers as guided under Casey's hand.
Everything in the show is so deliberate, so planned out, yet is still maintains that satisfying feeling of spontaneity of a live show.
I have to say that Warren Fischer is responsible for that. Watching him from the peripheral of my vision, excitedly bobbing away in a blond wig behind the DJ booth always made me not only happy, but feel totally pumped.
I have noticed they tend to have Asian influences in their costumes before, but the drama of their designs are still not lost on me. I enjoyed picking out other odd references they made during the show.
My favorite of witch is when the dance they were preforming on stage was reflecting the one that the fictional character Naomi has to learn in the movie Show Girls.
I highly suggest that you see this show.
It is good for your soul.

Hey you guys! My 2007 cartoonist crush, Lance Christian Hansen

I was lucky enough to get my way into it! Here is my drawing for the pin up compilation.

I went to longisland this weekend to visit my Dads and see my grandma.
When i arrived at my home, (the house in witch i spent most of my childhood in) i saw this envelope sitting atop the mail pile.



In fourth grade i had this teacher named Mr.McCormack. Mr.McCormack was the kind of teacher, that when you are in fourth grade seems totally awesome but in retrospect, was kind of crappy.
I think he had ten year or something the year he had me, because i don't really remember learning a whole lot. Well that's a lie. I don't remember learning academic stuff.

I remember this thing called the math wheel, where we would have to go up to the front of the class and he would draw a circle on the chalk board. In the middle of the circle was a number, say like 5 to represent the 5 times table. Then around the circle were the numbers 1 through 12 much like a clock. He would then use his pointer like a second hand and quickly go around the circle. As he did this you had to say the answer to the number that the pointer went pass. Now, i had mad learning disabilities. A.d.d dysgraphia the works. So week after week i got to feel like a dumbass in front of the whole class.

I could fill up a whole post with some of the bullshit he did too us. Read across America, that quiz competition, the trading fair. We did a lot of time capsule stuff too. My friend Kelly and i often would rant about the pointless stuff we did in that class. But most of all about how he promised we would dig up our time capsule and he would send us these letters. But Alas! Here it is.
That bastard came through on something.

Im going to do my best to stay true and correct but it gets tough near the end.




" Dear me, Right now Guhime (Guggenheim) is like this. We have one teacher for math, sines (science), reding (reading) and wring (writing). We have one art teacher one gym teacher and one liebeary (library) teacher. I can't concentrate i'm am so happy about this. I'm getting a dog! We are doing a lot of reashor (research). Also i move during 4th grade. It was hard. But it got me some good exsques (exercise). Afters school on fridays i go to theater arts and on wensday i go to craft club. I have a lot of friends. Kelly goes to therd (theater) arts to. Jessica, Beckey and Kristen go to craft club. Out side i play is tag and red rover. In the summer i like to go simming (swimming) and i go to camp. At this time i took out a fun with Spanish book. I want to learn Spanish. I want to be eathe (ether) a vet, a musgin (musician) or something in T.V. I play a trumpet at this time. My favorite singing group is the SPICE GIRLS. I think my chev (??? chores maybe?) is boring. Tha are so pepey (I have no idea what this sentence is trying to say). I love wright (writing). I might be a wrighter. I love anmals (animals). I love to draw picutures of anmals (animals)."



" I collect benie badys (beanie babies). At this time i have 27. I hope when i get this i am happy with it. I work very hard on it. Right now my dad is on a businnas (business) trip. Nothing comes to my mind right now so i that i think is the end of my letter."

Included with this is possibly the best thing i will ever draw:

the weirdest part of all of this is apparently good old Mr.McCormack moved to the Philippines and works as a surf and sail tour guide.

Fun Fact: did you know i collect other people's old photos?
i sure do. it is one of my favorite things.
i find them at flea markets, tag sales, and thrift shops.
